SALARY AND BENEFITS PACKAGE
Residents earn a competitive salary and
benefits package that included coverage for group health, dental,
term life, accidental death and dismemberment and long-term disability.
Optional benefits include supplemental life, accidental death
and dismemberment insurance and tax-sheltered annuities (TIAA).
Salary stipends are based on the year of the graduate and are
reviewed annually to assure they are competitive.
All noon conferences are accompanied by
a complimentary meal.
CME ALLOWANCE
Resident physicians are allowed up to five
days per year for out of town educational conferences. The educational
expenditure must have prior approval and the amount is determined
by resident academic year.
VACATION/SICK LEAVE
Each resident is entitled to fifteen days
paid vacation each academic year. There are an additional eight
holidays each year; however, these holidays are not necessarily
granted on the normally recognized holiday dates. Those official
days are; Christmas day, New Year's day, July 4th, Labor day,
Memorial day, Thanksgiving (2 days), and Martin Luther King,
Jr.'s birthday. The resident is allowed ten days sick leave each
academic year.
LICENSE FEES/MEMBERSHIP DUES
Alabama limited license fees, Alabama permanent
license fees and USMLE Step 3 fees, American Medical Association,
Medical Association of the State of Alabama, Dallas County Medical
Society, and American Academy of Family Physicians fees are paid
by Selma Family Medicine. The initial DEA certification number
and ACLS, PALS & ALSO certification for interns are paid
by Selma Family Medicine.
MALPRACTICE INSURANCE
Full malpractice insurance, including "tail
coverage" for the resident, is paid by Selma Family Medicine.
LAB COATS
Lab coat allowance of $150 is provided.
MOONLIGHTING
Moonlighting privileges are extended to
second and third year residents.
