Annual
Medical Students' Procedure Workshop |
|
Each spring, Uab Selma Family Medicine hosts
a Procedure Workshop for fifty medical students from Alabama
and surronding states. Using top quality, state-of-the-art medical
models, the faculty and residents teach procedures that include
central lines, basic suturing techniques, advanced suturing and
hand-tying, intubation, IV access, arterial blood gas, joint
injections, lumbar puncture, OB ultrasound, and flexible Sigmoidoscopy.
These procedures and others are taught and practiced throughout
the year. |

"I just wanted to thank you and everyone
involved at the UAB Selma Family Medicine procedure workshop
one more time. We had an amazing time and really appreciate the
wonderful hospitality. I think that several of us are now taking
a closer look at what family medicine is really about for us
physicians and how we can possibly impact our communities.
Thank you again."

"I would like you to know that we
have been talking about the workshop here at school, and it is
a consensus that the workshop was both fun and very insightful.
Thank you so much for all the work that you guys put into last
weekend."

"This whole workshop was great. I
learned a lot about so many different procedures. It was even
better than my expectations. It was very organized. In fact,
this workshop was more organized than most of our classes. Thank
you so much!"
